Bowral Dressage Club Inc is committed to supporting our Young Riders and offers a number of initiatives to encourage them as they compete in the sport of dressage.

YOUNG RIDER Team

In 2018, Bowral Dressage Club proudly established its Young Rider Team, successfully supporting a group of five young riders to compete as a sponsored team at the Youth Dressage Championships. All riders placed across levels from Preliminary to Medium, and the experience highlighted not only their competitive success but also their outstanding sportsmanship, camaraderie, and mutual support.

Building on the strong foundations laid by our Young Rider teams from 2018 to 2025, Bowral Dressage Club is excited to support another Young Rider Team in 2026. Our Young Riders have become familiar and valued contributors at Bowral competitions assisting with pencilling, collecting test sheets, and helping with event set-up and pack up demonstrating their commitment to both the sport and the Club.

Eligibility Criteria – Young Rider Team 2026

To be considered for the 2026 Bowral Dressage Club Young Rider Team, applicants must:

  • Be a current financial member of Bowral Dressage Club

  • Be aged between 12 and 21 years

  • Qualify for and compete at the 2026 NSW Youth Dressage Championships

  • Have competed at Bowral Dressage Club competitions

  • Have completed a minimum of two (2) hours of volunteering at two (2) separate Bowral Dressage Club events between 1 June 2025 and 1 June 2026

Volunteering may include pencilling, event set-up or pack-up and more. A volunteer sheet must be completed and signed by a Bowral Dressage Club committee member. To obtain a volunteer sheet, please email bowraldressage@gmail.com.

 Please note: All current team members must re-apply to be considered for the 2026 team.

 About the 2026 Young Rider Team

We are seeking dedicated, enthusiastic young riders who are keen to develop their skills, contribute to the Club, and represent Bowral Dressage with pride. Throughout the year, the Club aims to organise clinics and mentoring opportunities to support the development of our Young Riders and help them achieve their individual goals.

 

Selection Process

Selection is based on a combination of:

  • Competition performance and scores

  • Volunteering contribution

  • A written application addressed to the Bowral Dressage Club Committee

 

Your written application should include:

  • The level you are currently competing

  • Your qualifying scores

  • Details of your volunteering hours

  • Information about your horse or pony

  • What you can contribute to the Young Rider Team and Bowral Dressage Club

  • Why you would like to be selected

 

Please also include your rug size and clothing size in your application.

Final selection remains at the discretion of the Committee. The Club aims to select a balanced team that represents a range of competition levels.

Important Dates

  • Applications close: Saturday, 1 June 2026

  • The Young Rider Team will be announced following the release of the Youth Championships acceptance list.

 

What New Successful Applicants Receive

Successful applicants will receive a team uniform package, including:

  • Hat

  • T-shirt

  • Jacket

  • Horse/Pony rug

  • Saddlecloth

Existing team members who are successful applicants for the 2026 team will not receive a full set of new team uniform, however they will receive a new item to add to their current BDC YR Team uniform.
